Dragi ljudi,
What a lovely time to be a missionary. I feel the love of the work throughout my whole soul.
The people we are teaching are doing well and there is much potential here. The anm is doing well.
I taught Sister Toleafoa how to drive on the right side of the road. She did great and we are still alive ;)
I was so excited at the beginning of last week to have 2 more weeks in Serbia to serve God.
But then on Wednesday we were informed that the departing missionaries in
Serbia would be going to Croatia on Saturday in preparation for the transfer.
After 1 year of serving in Serbia, I left on Saturday. It was hard to say goodbye.
This is my home , these are my people.
I will miss the members incredibly and all of the amazing misisonaries still staying in Serbia.
So I said goodbye to the wonderful Sister Toleafoa who will now be training a new missionary.
I dearly treasure our memories together and already miss her.
So Elder Benson and I went with a driver from Serbia to Croatia.
Crossing the border was a bit tricky but lots of paperwork was done in advance for us.
They still wouldnt let us through ,but finally after a few phone calls- they let us out of Serbia into Croatia!
Now I am in the mission home, more like the mission palace in Zagreb, Croatia.
It is in the centar of beautiful old town Zagreb.
To be honest, i have no idea what they want me to do while im here.
All of the mtc missionaries are finishing their online mtc training here and so I'm hanging out with them.
I get to help with training and practicing but don't really have a companion.
Saturday I was in a quad with the AP's and Elder Benson. It has been an adventure!:) too many laughs haha.
I feel like I'm the fun aunt for the new sisters.
I just take them out for adventures and we get treats or look at great views.
They are so cute and awesome! Its a blast to be with them!
We got to go to church in Zagreb! Great branch! And today for pday we played soccer :)
I am so shocked that this is it. I fly home next week! I cant wait to see my family (:
This last 18 months of my life has been unforgettable.
I have cried, struggled, laughed, skipped, loved, worked, and most of all learned.
I served
5 months in Rijeka, Croatia
4 months in Belgrade, Serbia
4 months in Novi Sad, Serbia
5 months in Belgrade, Serbia
I can list the places ive served but i can't even begin to make a list of all the things I've learned.
I thought I was coming out here to build the kingdom, but little did I know that God was building me.
I hope that I have made half of the impact on these countries as they have made on me.
I have given it my all.
I have testified and tried to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with all (and i still have a week to do so!!yipeeeee)
I have learned to pray like never before. I have learned to study and ponder.
There is no way to express how i feel right now. How do i even express everything that i know and treasure.
I love this verse in Doctrine and Covenanta 76. I changed it a bit to fit how i feel right now.
22 And now, after the many testimonies which Sister Gittins has given of him
this is the testimony, last of all,
which Sister Gittins give[s] of him:
That he lives!
I know that Jesus Christ lives. He is the living Savior who knows me by name.
I know with Him by my side, I can do all things. There is grace all around you to help you through.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is His church restored to the earth again.
Being a missionary is the best thing to be! Everyone should be a missionary!
Thank you for all of the support for the last year and a half of my life. It means so much to me.
God be with you til we meet again.
Leaving will be hard... But the future is bright!
Bok, zdravo, ćao
Volim vas!
Sister Gittins
This painting was done by Tacy and Sister Dimas in a home for disabled adults.
They asked that is be an Angel
and not a painting of Christ but I think it is a Beautiful Angel!
